Forest Row Parish Council is seeking an enthusiastic and committed person to manage its popular monthly market.
The market is held in the village centre between 10 am and 3 pm on the first Saturday of every month from March to December inclusive, with a monthly average of 35 stalls selling a mixture of quality food and craft products.
Reporting to the Community Services Committee through the Parish Clerk, the successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management of the market, including stall bookings, allocations and layouts, pitch fee collections, and maintaining the market’s profile through local publications and social media.
In addition to a basic monthly management fee, the Council will add a percentage of the receipts from the stallholders for each month.
The post will be on a self-employed basis with a basic monthly fee of £330 plus performance percentage and any associated expenses (to include the setting up costs).

Requirements
You will need to be outgoing and customer focused, and some experience in the retail sector would be an advantage. You will also need to be organised, aware of health & safety requirements, competent in standard IT applications, and confident in handling money. It is anticipated that the post will require approximately 15 hours per month to handle the administration, plus attendance of approximately 7 hours at the market itself.
You will also be responsible for commissioning a team to set up and take down the stalls, and you will need to be present on market day to supervise the operation and deal with any queries from stallholders or the public.
