Down By Law (Director: Jim Jarmusch, USA 1986, 107 mins, 15)

One of the cult films of the 1980s, alternately melancholy, comical, desolate and optimistic. Tetchy, raspy radio DJ Zack (Tom Waits) and bottled-up, sleazy would-be pimp Jack end up in prison for being too casual to avoid being framed for crimes they didn’t commit. They end up sharing a cell with an eccentric, cheerful Italian, Roberto, who leads the misfits out of jail, finds happiness himself and leaves the other two to their different roads ahead.

Doors open at 4:30pm for an 5pm start. This is part of a double bill of quirky classic American independent films and will be followed by O Brother, Where Art Thou? at 8pm. Come along to both and bring a picnic to enjoy in the village hall between screenings! As always, we will be serving tea, cake and wine.

Tickets are £7.50 (£6.50 concessions) for non-members and £6 for members (£5 conc). There will be a discount if purchasing tickets for both films.
